John Bruzon

John Bruzon was born and educated in Gibraltar. From an early age he showed great promise and talent at the piano, but at a time when the opportunities in Gibraltar for training for a dedicated career in music were practically negligible. By his own determination he won a bursary which enabled him to study at Trinity College of Music with the pianist Irene Kohler to whom he owes much.

Over the years he has enjoyed a varied and exciting career, being equally at home in both classical and lighter fields of music. He has performed in concerts and recitals throughout the UK and abroad, including engagements at the Wigmore Hall, London, and a series of classical programmes on the QE2 for part of a world cruise.

John was privileged to partner the English National Opera’s baritone Derek Hammond-Stroud at the Fairfield Halls 20th Anniversary Celebrity Lunchtime Concerts. Derek also selected John to accompany him in a performance of the song cycle ‘Winterreise’ for the Schubert Society of Great Britain. He was a regular accompanist for Derek’s busy teaching practice in London.

Through his passion, hard work and natural flair for performance he is now a highly respected and versatile concert pianist constantly in demand. More recently he has added teaching to his portfolio. John is a natural teacher who thoroughly enjoys encouraging and developing his many students’ talents and technical keyboard skills.
